Call for Abstracts for the San Juan Mining and Reclamation Conference “Coming Full Circle: Making a Difference and Forging Ahead” to be held on May 24th & 25th, 2017 in Ouray, Colorado. This conference has made a full tour through the mining communities of southwestern Colorado over the past six years. It has featured presentations and discussions about the history and heritage of mining in the San Juan Mountains, contemporary hardrock mining practices, alternative remediation approaches to legacy mining impacts, and the regulatory frameworks for both. There is also the opportunity to consider how industry in the region has utilized innovative mining technologies and environmental mitigation plans to energize hardrock mining in the San Juans. Call for Abstracts - Emerging Contaminants in the Aquatic Environment Conference. The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC), a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, and the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG) are co-organizing the Emerging Contaminants in the Aquatic Environment Conference which will be held on May 31 - June 1, 2017, in Champaign, IL. Abstracts are welcome on all aspects of emerging contaminants in the aquatic environment. Topics may include: research, policy, management, outreach, and education about their detection, fate, transport, remediation, and prevention. Oral presentation abstracts are due January 31, 2017, and poster abstracts are due February 28, 2017. Submit an Oral Presentation Abstract. Submit a Poster Presentation Abstract.
