This engaging virtual event will emphasize participant interaction with live chat, participant polling, and small group break-out sessions along with an exciting panel of speakers. Participants will be encouraged to reference resources ahead of the Symposium to ensure a dynamic discussion in the moment. Project Wet Workshop: The Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) workshop provides a hands-on immersion in a water education curriculum recommended by the National Science Teachers Association. In the workshop, facilitators will model four activities and participants plan and teach a lesson to peers and receive feedback from workshop facilitators. AUGUST 20th, 2020: Volunteer Event at River Park | RiversEdge West | Grand Junction, CO. Volunteer with RiversEdge West on August 20th from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. for a small, physically-distanced event removing tamarisk at the River Park at Las Colonias! Volunteers will help pull weeds, pick up trash, and cut tamarisk. Loppers, hand saws, and work gloves will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own tools (no chainsaws) as well. Summit for Action is a 2-day event for thought-provoking discussions and solutions-based recommendations for Justice, Equity, Diversity, Accessibility, and Inclusion. AUGUST 29th, 2020: River Clean-Up | Summit Foundation & Blue River Watershed Group. This event was created to have a profound positive impact on the health of the Blue River Watershed. The morning will be spent cleaning the valley's waterways. Volunteer Team Leaders will pick up supplies for their team starting at 8:00 a.m. the day of the cleanup.
